contest time...

First comment to tell me what 80's movie this appeared in, along with a plot description (don't copy IMDB) and cast list wins a prize.

The song:

Dead Man's Party -- Oingo Boingo

The Jack scored bigtime here...this station is on a great, great roll.

I don't feel like shit...yet

Yeah, I said it. I feel ok today. No suicidal tendencies yet. This morning, I awoke to:

Your Love -- The Outfield

Good tune, got me up, got me moving. Then I got in the car:

We're Not Gonna Take It -- Twisted Sister
Sledgehammer -- Peter Gabriel

More good shit. I recently found an old PG album to listen to, so this was nice. Now, my attitude is a ticking time bomb...is good for now, but how long until I try to drown myself in a storm drain?

The Good, The Bad, and Steve Winwood

Yeah, you guessed it...Steve-Fucking-Winwood. For those who haven't never been around me when a song comes on from Winwood, I hate this fucking guy. He should burn in hell with Michael Bolton and Roger Clemens. I can't help but wish bad things on this guy. His music is awful, tacky, and to be honest useless to society.

With that said, here's what I woke up to:

Meant to Live -- Switchfoot

I hate this song, I hate this band. This should have been a sign. Really. But I got up, and showered, and got in the car. Upon the turn of a key, I get this:

Torn -- Natalie Imbruglia

Normally, I'd shit my pants over this song...another awful tune. But, I love it because it then reminds me of this clip

Finally, the nail in the coffin:

Roll with It -- Steve Winwood

I know in the past, I have figured the worse the music, the better the day. This is bullshit when it comes to Steve Winwood. Nothing makes me want to slit my wrists and do pushups in rubbing alcohol more.

Just like heaven

Yeah, post holiday Mondays suck. At least the music was entertaining. I woke up to:

Just Like Heaven -- The Cure

Not a bad start, given how bad I feel. This weekend was a learning experience. What I learned... It's not advisable to run long distances (10.5 miles), then take part in 4 bottles of wine. Don't think the human body was built for that kind of torture. But oh, what a ride it was. 4 hours of riding high, then a sudden and abrupt end. Passing out at 9:30pm was the result of the actions of Sunday.

The drive in:

Funky Cold Medina -- Tone Loc
Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting -- Elton John

What can you say about these songs? I don't know, my brain isn't working. It will all end soon...just not soon enough.

Turn around, go home...walk away.

Honestly, i'm not sure a Monday could start any worse than this. Alarm goes off, and you hear this:

Don't Go Breaking My Heart -- Elton John and Kiki Dee

I should have stayed in bed. I should have take the toaster into the shower with me. I should have not come to work. But, I figured, it has to get better...right?

Play That Funky Music -- Wild Cherry
Cryin' -- Aerosmith

Jesus. I mean, really...these songs? Many folks have read this blog and said "change the fucking station". Normally, i'd rather listen to bad music than two DJ schmucks rambling about fart jokes or some bullshit. Today, I was ready to change it over. I was ready to go NPR or something. Luckily (or not, depends on your point of view) I made it to the parking lot of the NWC safely.

Happy St. Patty's day. I hope i'm jumped and beaten to death by Irish hooligans. One good headbutt to put me out of my misery.

Dance all day long...

When your day starts with Wang Chung...what do you do? I leave this as an open question for my 4 readers to respond to.

My 24 hours of optimism came and went with really no impact on anything. So, by that rationale, there is really no reason for optimism any more.

Today's songs:

Dance Hall Days: Wang Chung
Man on the Run: One 2 Many
Queen: Another One Bites the Dust

Any drive that ends with Queen is a good ride. You can't get enough Queen. Just like I can't drink enough Gin. This has to end soon...

Back on the chain Gang...

Ok, it's been a few days since the last posting.

The eternal pessimist I am, I will say this: No day can go bad when you start it with Chrissie Hynde. The Pretenders were rockin' the Jack, and the gal from Cleveland has me motivated. Granted, this motivation may not last until lunch, so we'll see.

Today's drive in songs:

Back on the Chain Gang: The Pretenders
Superstition: Stevie Wonder

A nice follow-up to the Prentenders, the funk of Stevie. I can't complain. For the first time, I can't complain about anything.

Of course, it may be that final moment of bliss one experiences before death...ha.

Sleet sucks

Honestly, is there anything worse than waking up to sleet? Snow has a few redeemable qualities, and freezing rain will shut down the university. Sleet just piles up on your car, and has no purpose. For the record, yesterday afternoon is was warm, breezy with a tornadoes rampaging through the state. This morning, we get ice. Screw this state.

Oh, the drive time music:

Melt With You: Modern English
Can't Get Enough: Bad Company

Wasn't that bad of a drive in. A little Modern English (ruined by Taco Bell commercials) is always appreciated. The Bad Company made me feel like I should be driving an '87 Camaro (IROC). Shitty day outside, with a moderate chance of being the same inside. Maybe i'll get lucky, they'll shut down work. Or maybe that stroke will finally get me.
